Nesting boxes in the marsh

Hidden away in the tall reed grasses and bullrushes at the bird sanctuary are numerous nesting boxes. Abandoned during the winter, come spring there will be swallows squabbling with the house sparrows over ownership. With the grasses reaching 7-10 feet in height in places, sometimes the boxes are hard to spot unless you’re on one of the viewing platforms.
