I can usually count on finding a great blue heron hanging around this log whenever I visit the bird sanctuary. It offers shelter from any wind, a little shade, a solid footing, the fishing appears to be decent, and there are always enough ducks to wake him up in case of danger. This October day was no exception, and it was nice to capture him doing something other than just standing there.
That is a fun and different shot!

I love shooting herons but it can be challenging capturing them doing something other than just standing like a statue! 🙂

Thank you! The logs are always great for the textures, and the foliage in that little area, but it was great to get the textures in the somewhat fluffed feathers and the wings, too.
