While out walking yesterday, I saw this mare and her filly and got some nice shots of them. I thought this one lent itself to a little bit of an artistic treatment, something I really love doing, and I like how it came out. After basic contrast adjustments, etc., in Lightroom, I enhanced the details in NIK Color Efex and then took it into PS Elements to apply a couple of textures from my personal library of textures that I’ve created.

Monochrome Madness — Eye of Mythical Horse

Image

Monochrome Madness submission, b&w image of horse's eye

My first submission to Leanne Cole’s Monochrome Madness. If I have followed the procedure for submitting an image correctly, hopefully it will show up in Week 17’s challenge next Tuesday.

This image is of the eye of my soul horse who died unexpectedly in 2012. He breathed life into — and carried me far beyond — my wildest childhood fantasies. He was the kind of horse most people can only dream about. He was a true gift and I am still struggling to adjust to losing him. One of his well-earned nicknames was Son of Pegasus, thus the name of my blog.

I haven’t played around much with black and white photography, so this is me dipping my toe in the deep end. 🙂
